R’ Chazkel writes that even though in Mitzrayim the Yiden were exposed to the worst Tumah, it still prepared them to serve Hashem. Because the foremost trait a person needs to serve Hashem is subjugation. In Mitzrayim the Yiden were treated as slaves and they got used to subjugate their will to others. Therefore, we should not feel bad if we encounter tyrant people, because it actually helps us to serve Hashem.
The Chovos HaLevovos writes that there are three reasons why Hashem bestows wealth upon a person. Two of the reasons are for the person’s disadvantage and one reason is for the person’s benefit. Furthermore, reviewing the beneficial criteria is apparent that there very few people who qualify. Therefore, do not feel bad if you’re not wealthy. It just means that Hashem in His great Mercy did not want to punish you.
Many years ago, a manager approached me while I was saying ‘Asher Yoztar’. Being that I was blessing Hashem I ignored the manager and he got angry. I decided then to put the phone to my ear while saying ‘Asher Yoztar’ so people would realize not to interrupt.
Fast forward to the today’s age, I was saying ‘Asher Yoztar’ without a phone in sight and my manager walked over, when he saw me talking he said ‘Sorry, I didn’t realize you’re on the phone!’
When a person feels financially secure he puts his trust in physical entities. On the other hand, someone who does not feel financially secure puts his trust only in Hashem.
A Yid should go around with a song in his heart for the privilege to serve Hashem.
Bill is a happy-go-lucky fellow, he is usually full of laughter and jokes which he enjoys sharing with his coworkers. Most of his coworkers appreciate the humor he adds to the work environment. However, a recent addition to the captive audience did not like the off-color jokes. As this particular fellow davened to Hashem to be saved from hearing offensive content; Bill’s life took a definitive turn for the worse. The afflictions which befall Bill in the last month include: Oral Surgery, car problems, infection due to the oral surgery, marital strife, pressure at work from the company’s president and a foot injury. Bill is too busy to think about jokes and the environment has become totally clean. Thank You Hashem for always hearing our prayers and taking care of all our needs.
Don’t take people too seriously, they are only creations and are controlled by Hashem. They have no power at all to help you or harm you.
Emuna is the prerequisite to receiving the Torah as the Midrash states: “The Torah could be given only to eaters of manna.”
Emuna teaches us Hashem provides all our material needs and our responsibility is only to serve Hashem. As we go about our lives many times we turn around to check how Hashem is providing us. It is not befitting for us to review the King and Master of the World. We should concentrate on our task which is to serve Hashem.
Due to Hashem’s great compassion, Emuna Tidbits headquarters has been relocated much closer to home. In fact, if you watch the Garden State Parkway you’ll not find Natan tracking north early in the morning anymore. Instead you can find him leaving shull in Lakewood leisurely at 8 and taking a 15 minutes ride to work. Thank you Hashem for always answering our prayers and taking care of all our needs.
