וקבצנו יחד מארבע כנפות הארץ

February 27, 2009

We see that unity is an integral part of the redemption.
Let’s unite in order to get redeemed.

Hashem is as available now as ever

February 27, 2009

The Ramchal writes that Hashem is constantly shining his light to whoever wants to get close to him. Any lack of closeness is not from Hashem only from the receiver.

(Derech Hashem – First Chelek, Chapter 4:10)

Pray for Prayer

February 26, 2009

We should daven to Hashem for everything, including the ability to properly daven to Him.
I was reminded of this concept from Google search. When I want to find out about something I search on Google. One time I wanted to figure out how to use a Google feature. I didn’t know where to look it up. Then, I realized that I could Google search how to use Google. Similarly, we should daven to Hashem to help us daven to Him.

Tzedoka fund freeze

February 25, 2009

A freeze is expected soon on additional investments in tzedoka.
The Gemora in Shabbos 151B says that in the days of Moshiach there won’t be the merit of tzedoka, since everybody will be rich. Any prior investment in the fund will yield unfathomable dividends. The time to invest is now.

You hear our prayer

February 24, 2009

כי אתה שומע תפלת כל פה עמך ישראל ברחמים

Hashem, you hear the prayer that is in everybody mouth, which refers to the whole klal yisroel davening for the redemption.

Position in the World to Come

February 23, 2009

The Ramchal writes that a person’s deeds are the only cause for their place in the World to Come. If they won’t like their place, they could only blame themselves.

(Derech Hashem – Second Chelek, Chapter 2:7)

Hashem is the best

February 23, 2009

My wife asked our five year old daughter “What’s the best thing that Hashem gave us?”  She answered: “The best thing that Hashem gave us is Hashem”.
Our connection to Hashem is the best thing, and really the only thing that has any value. This is the meaning of the words ‘Modim Anachnu Loch’  in Shemona Esre. We thank Hashem for being our Hashem.

Admitting wrong

February 20, 2009

The Gemora in Nida 30B says that before people are born they make them swear to be righteous, but to view themselves as evil.
Nobody is perfect, so a person has to be willing to admit that they have evil in them. Otherwise, they would distort the truth, and claim their evil deeds are righteous. Admitting they’re not perfect, will allow them to be truly happy, since they won’t have to pretend that they’re perfect.

ברכנו אבינו כלנו כאחד באור פניך, כי באור פניך נתת לנו ה’ אלקינו, תורת חיים

The Ba’al HaTanya says that only when we’re united could we merit these blessings. This might be the reason klal yisroel had to be united before they received the torah.
It is also vital for us to unite before we could merit the redemption.

Tefila keeps us connected to Hashem

February 19, 2009

The Ramchal writes, that when a person is entangled in worldy needs they could C”V become attached to this world. It is the reason that Hashem want us to daven to him, in order to subjugate ourselves & to trust in Hashem, and then worldy matters won’t harm us.

(Derech Hashem – Fourth Chelek, Chapter 5)
