Value of a Yid

The Gemora in Kesubos 15B says that if a baby is found in a city that is mostly non-Yiden, the baby has all the laws of a non-Yid, but we are supposed to violate Shabbos to save the baby because there is a chance that the baby is really a Yid.
The Chofetz Chaim says that we see from this ruling the intrinsic value of every Yid. Even though this baby is brought up as a non-Yid, Hashem is still commanding us to violate Shabbos to save him, because the value of a Yid does not depend on the mitzvos that he performs.
